In 1995, Brian Seed (aka DJ Brian) became the first DJ to join
Daniel and John Kelley as resident djs for Moontribe's legendary
Full Moon gatherings. Since then he has built an international
following spinning breaks, acid house, trance, tribal, and progressive
techno. His sound is never pinned down to one style, but his ear
is unique and dj sets are unlike anyone else- often breaking down
musical boundaries instead of being trapped by them. His productions
are equally unique and his sets consist of mostly original material.
In 2002 Brian formed Ritual Sounds as a place to release his
and others’ music.
As Seed, Brian has released 12”s and remixes on Fade, Virgin,
Pacific Front, Desert Trax, Interscope, System, Moonshine, Six
Degrees, Ball of Waxx, and many releases for Ritual Sounds. He’s
remixed artists like Perry Farrell, No Doubt, ABA Structure, Karsh
Kale, Desert Dwellers, Tiebreaker, Formulate, Fisher Project,
Donna Delory, Jorane, Ambr.sea, Woven, Undo, and many others.
Brian produces music with long time collaborator John Kelley,
and they have released a full-length artist album (John Kelley-
“A Night In The Park”) as well as 2 sample CDs with
M-Audio (Pro Sessions 18 & 19) and countless productions with
Ball of Waxx Music (www.ballofwaxx.com).
As a DJ with the Moontribe collective he has toured extensively
both on his own and with the tribe. He has released three “Hardesertrtance”
mix CD’s and “Psychotrance 2002” on Moonshine
Music, and other compilations for Ball of Waxx, Fragrant, and
Phatt Phunk. His talent for creating and producing music has taken
him well beyond the dancefloor. Numerous influences from experimental
rock to ambient to jazz can be heard in his various music projects
and he has an ear for what moves people.
In the (un)real world, Brian is a Sound Designer and Mixer for
TV, films, video games, and music, using his technical skills
and years of experience to enhance every project he comes in contact
with.
Brian's ears, eyes, and mind are always open. His musical diversity
and willingness to experiment elevates his listeners to new heights,
changing the way we listen and dance.
